Late entries will be accepted on the day of carnivals but will incur a $20 late fee and are the responsibility of the individual.

The Sydney Water Series is open to members U8-U14yrs that wish to participate in the water or on sand but ALL competitors U9 and over are required to complete the compulsory Surf Proficiency to be eligible to take part.

At Carnivals ALL competitors require Club costume and cap and will receive a Sydney Water Hi Vis Vest with entry.

With a team this size we are so far looking for at least 5 Officials & 5 Water Safety at each Carnival.  Many hands make light work so let us know if you are available so that a roster can be coordinated to suit.  Our aim is to always be fair to families so please do not rely on the same people putting in the hours all the time.  At the end of last season many of the accredited Bulli personnel have now retired or moved on so we are looking for new volunteers to step up and take on this role.  For those looking to help out and become accredited in this area the Sydney Water Series is a great way to achieve the hours required.  Please confirm if you can assist as without this support the TEAM CANNOT TAKE PART by emailing bullinippers@gmail.com

Carnivals include the following:

ROUND 1 SATURDAY 27TH OCTOBER @ Warilla Barrack Point
ROUND 2 SATURDAY 3TH NOVEMBER @ Kiama Downs
ROUND 3 SATURDAY 10TH NOVEMBER @ Fairy Meadow
ROUND 4 SATURDAY 17TH NOVEMBER @ Shellharbour

PS We are still looking for a team manager to assist Simon Jones (carnival Secretary)

SURF SPORTS – TRAINING AND COMPETITION

For kids that want to further develop their surf and beach skills beyond Sunday Nippers, Bulli SLSC provides an opportunity for Nippers to participate in the Bulli Junior Team at surf carnivals. Training is held on two afternoons a week and on Sunday morning before regular Nippers.

 Carnivals include:

  • The Sydney Water Surf Series. 4 carnivals held in the Illawarra region held between October and December.
  • The SLS Illawarra Junior Development Carnival. An entry level carnival held in January or February.
  • The SLS Illawarra Junior Branch Championships. Held in February each year.
  • The SLS NSW Age State Championships held in late Feb/early March each year.

Individual and team relay opportunities are available in a range of events including:

  • Beach sprint
  • Beach relay
  • Flags
  • Surf swim
  • Paddle board surf races
  • Iron person
  • Wade for under 8s
  • Board rescue
  • Surf (swim) teams

In order to participate in carnivals Nippers must:

  • Have paid membership fees and completed pool and surf proficiencies (even for those doing beach activities only).
  • Pay the carnival entry fees.
  • Wear the Bulli swimming costume and have a pink high visibility singlet.
  • Complete the Nippers education requirements prior to 31 December and demonstrate good attendance at Sunday Nippers (except for the Sydney Water series).
  • Attended all required education and surf sessions.

PARENT COMMITMENT:

Bulli is required to provide volunteer water safety personnel, officials and other support at each carnival. Therefore, it is essential that the parents of Nippers participating in carnivals are available to assist where possible including with general logistics, coordination and set up at the beach.
