Members attend SLSNSW HP Camp

4 Bulli surf sports athletes Hannah Minogue, Jamie Brinkworth, Lachlan O'Grady & Mali Taylor last weekend attended the Surf Life Saving New South Wales High Performance Camp at the Surfing Australia High Performance Centre at Casuarina Beach. Unfortunately Beau Wheeler was also selected by couldn't attend due to work committments.

32 male and female athletes from 15-25yrs of age were put through rigorous physical testing to fine tune their skills preparing them for the 2013/14 surf sports season.

The athletes did strength and power drills, sprints, lower and upper body tests, endurance drills as well as video analysis as part of the three day high performance camp.

Surf Life Saving NSW Surf Sports Manager, Dan Pearce, says that the camp presents an excellent opportunity for Surf Life Saving athletes who have never used the High Performance Centre before.

“The Hurley HPC is a world class sports science and training facility that has been used by some of the world’s best sportsmen and women. SLSNSW are thrilled that we can offer such a unique experience to some of our elite athletes.

“The facility itself is a brand new multimillion dollar complex designed and funded by the AIS and Australian Sports Commission. Using a facility like the HPC will ensure that the athletes attending will learn from some of the best coaches and sports scientists in the world.

“SLSNSW hope to be able to grow our partnership with the HPC and Surfing Australia into the future with more camps similar to this,” said Dan Pearce.
