Downie Langthorne wins NSW Sports Volunteer Award
Downie Langthorne our Head Senior Surf/Craft Coach was named 'Coach of the Year' at the annual NSW Sports Volunteer Awards in Sydney this week.
This caps a trifecta of awards after being named Illawarra & NSW Surf Life Saving Coach of the Year at their recent Awards of Excellence nights. The awards are based on last seasons achievements.
Downie coaches our senior athletes in surf/craft/pool rescue events and the squad ranges in age from 14 years to 44 years.
Chris Parker SLSNSW Surfs Sports Manager said, "He doesn't place the emphasis only on winning, but also assists his athletes to achieve their personal best. Downie really relates to young athletes and has the respect of both parents and athletes."
The club congratulates Downie on his achievements as he continues to coach our athletes this season with some great results already.
